HayMarket ("we," "us," or "our") operates the HayMarket horse marketplace platform at haymarket.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service. By using HayMarket, you agree to the terms described here.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, phone number (optional), and password (stored as a one-way bcrypt hash — we never store your plain-text password).
Listing information. When you post a horse listing, we collect all information you provide: horse details (breed, age, bloodlines, etc.), photos, videos, pricing, and contact preferences. This information is made public to buyers on the platform.
Usage information. We log standard server access data including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This is used for security and performance monitoring only.
Communications. Messages sent between buyers and sellers through the platform are stored in our database to support the messaging feature.
Facebook import. If you use our Facebook listing import feature, we temporarily scrape publicly visible listing text from a URL you provide. We do not store your Facebook credentials.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising profiling. We do not share your information with anyone except as described in this policy.
By posting a listing on HayMarket, you understand and agree that the information in that listing — including your horse's details, photos, videos, asking price, and any contact information you choose to include — will be visible to the public. Please do not include sensitive personal information in your listing description.
Your data is stored on servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted passwords (bcrypt), HTTPS for all data transmission, and access controls on our database. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Uploaded photos and videos are stored on our server filesystem. Media files associated with removed listings are retained for 30 days then deleted.
Access and correction. You can update your account information at any time from your dashboard.
Delete your account. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing contact@haymarket.app. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Note that messages you've sent to other users may remain visible to those recipients.
Remove listings. You can remove your listings at any time from your seller dashboard. Removed listings are soft-deleted and become invisible to the public immediately.
Opt out of emails. Transactional emails (bid alerts, messages) are part of the core service. If you no longer want to receive them, you should deactivate your account.
HayMarket uses a single session cookie (hm_session) to keep you logged in. This cookie is HTTP-only and expires after 30 days of inactivity. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

HayMarket is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes by email. Continued use of HayMarket after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
